Here at the ‘ranch’ it’s gray, rainy, and 53 degrees (F) with a north wind at about 12 to 15 mph. And no, I’m not getting mush headed and turning into a weather weenie – I’m just lamenting the fact that it won’t be long before I switch golf tog themes from warm to cool/cold weather. All in all, we’re pretty lucky here – for the most part, golf is a year round activity.
And thinking about year round, so is posting scores for handicap purposes. When I think about it, I actually play two very different courses but our handicap system only recognizes one. Many cool/cold weather courses don’t accept scores between 11/1 and 2/28 while the grasses are dormant and the fairways and greens are hard and fast. You could argue that those conditions artificially inflate handicaps.
I’m going to touch base with our club’s handicap honcho and see if our MGA/WGA will forgo scores between 11/1 and 2/28.
