I see that Sabre inked a new 5 year deal with Northwest Airlines. It gives Sabre full access to Northwest content – fares, schedules, etc. And this is on the heels of Sabre’s announcement at the end of last year about a similar agreement with ATA.
Even with the cash infusion at ITA, it appears that Northwest has rolled the dice and decided that ITA and G2 aren’t going to be viable until at least 2011.
This is good news for Sabre and perhaps not so good news for other airlines taking a wait-and-see attitude. They have to be wondering about the terms of Northwest’s deal and the likelihood of their getting similar terms.
