This past weekend, North Texas got some long over due rain – as much as 1.5 inches in some areas. I got to thinking about that and did a bit of digging and found that for 2005, North Texas is behind average rainfall by more than 2 inches per month.
Not only are lake levels low and burning has been banned, we are also seeing some unusual landscape choices – palm trees and cactus are in demand.
No, I’m not going green but if the lack of rainfall keeps up, this entire area will turn arid in short order and with that comes all the problems that are common to desert cities like Phoenix.
