Miami’s Carnival Cruise Line, owner of Cunard’s Queen Mary 2, is in a bit of a pickle over an incident last week where the ship lost an encounter with a Florida shipping channel. Seems the ship lost use of one of their engines but did not prevent the ship from continuing the New York to Los Angeles trip scheduled to arrive in Los Angeles on February 22 via South America.
Unfortunately, in order to make their scheduled arrival, several ports of call had to be eliminated. The revised schedule did not include Barbados, St. Kitts, and Salvador, Brazil. Cunard offered about 1000 cruisers who were to disembark in Rio-de Janeiro a 50 percent refund. Some cruisers are protesting.
I probably would have been disappointed also, but a 50 percent refund? Sounds like a good deal to me. Besides, how many more cheap t-shirts does one really need?
