Yesterday, Sam Gilliland (Sabre’s CEO) sent an email outlining how Sabre was going to help with the Katrina relief effort.
First, $25,000 was donated to the Red Cross National Disaster Relief Fund. And, they’ve carved out a spot on the company’s internal web site for individual contributions. During our Give Together (formerly United Way) campaign, during the week of Sep 26, Sabre will match our contributions. Also, the money raised during that weeks fundraising activities (dunk the executive, talent show, silent auction, etc.) will be earmarked for the Red Cross National Disaster Relief Fund.
In the spirit of the Travelocity Customer Bill of Rights, Travelocity has contacted more than 30,000 travelers destined for regions impacted by Katrina to help them with changes to their plans. There are also links to the Katrina relief effort on Travelocity and Lastminute.com.
Customer support in Sabre Airline Solutions has been beefed up to help airlines using our technologies to get their operations back in order.
We have heard that our systems were used in the Houston area to quickly evacuate, relocate, and redeploy thousands of oil rig workers in the gulf.
Needless to say, I’m proud to work at Sabre.
