Once a week, for about an hour, my work PC is just about useless. Antivirus software installed in my machine runs its weekly scan searching for naughty stuff hell bent to do damage. And while that happens, memory and processes are so clogged up, little else gets done. Now, I must admin it’s very tempting to abort the scan and go about my business but that defeats the purpose of having antivirus software altogether.
Wouldn’t it be great if antivirus software integrated with different calendar applications? Then it would know when to run a scan, say when you are away or in a meeting or some such. But, unfortunately it doesn’t so I’m settling on a lower tech solution.
A sticky note on my monitor reminding me to run a scan before heading to a meeting of one hour or longer will have to do.
