Many years ago, Lady Bird Johnson organized a campaign to beautify America’s landscape by planting wild flowers alongside the interstate system. Each year, at springtime, drivers of Texas’ highways are treated to a bloom of showy Texas Bluebonnets.
Late last summer, we scored a bag of Bluebonnet seeds and thought they’d look great along our backyard’s border. I think the seeds were a bit late in getting sown because this poor little pathetic bloom is all that managed to blossom.
A different slant of the definition of survivor.
