Travelocity has again published a list of airports that have the dubious distinction of being the worst in the nation when it comes to rental car base rate add-ons – like taxes and other fees charged by local governments that target a captive audience like travelers. This year, the top two airports are in Texas.
Number one in add-on fees is Houston Bush Intercontinental where the rental car base rate is jacked up by 66.1 percent in added taxes and fees. Number two is just down the road – the Dallas/Fort Worth airport adds an additional 61.4 percent.
You know, it might just be easier to catch a cab and have it take you to the nearest rental car suburban location. Enterprise is just about everywhere including most car dealerships and body shops.
Wow, more than 60 percent above the base rate in taxes and fees. If you didn’t feel like you were being gouged before, how about now?
